Can You Enjoy Life While You Chase Your Financial Dreams?

There’s a wonderful movement towards minimalism today and I enjoy reading articles that teach us what we need and what we can do without. I’m a bit of a neat freak and am very structured which lends itself to the minimalist mindset.

It kind of comes with the territory of being a personal trainer. You want to structure people’s health and fitness routines and you want to be efficient so these minimalist articles fit right in with my psyche. I like figuring out ways to save a bit and learning about how to avoid frivolous spending. It’s fun! But, is it required if you’re trying to make big money?

Having Your Coffee is Just Fine

Let’s put it this way: Whether or not you have a the fanciest coffee creation of your dreams every day has absolutely no effect at all on you making millions. In fact, I would say that any little thing or “little win” that helps you on your money trek should be encouraged.

Getting rich isn’t about the coffee. It’s not about saving a bit of money here and there. Sure, you’re welcome to do so if you like but it’s probably not going to make or break your financial conquests. If the difference between saving or spending on a cup of coffee will effect your business success, you may need to look at the business, not the coffee.

The Millionaires Were Having Coffee

Now I didn’t sit down and have coffee every day with my clients. That’s typically not something they wanted to do after working out. What I’m trying to speak to here is the mentality they had.

The deeper aspect to this is that making a lot of money isn’t to do with being tight with money. It’s to do with making money. This is the mentality you’re looking for. This mentality generally didn’t come with a minimalist or a scrimp and save outlook from what I saw.

The millionaires weren’t wasteful or anything like that with money but they didn’t worry about buying small things along the way.

This was more of the picture I saw versus excessive restriction. Sure, they would fight for a deal or make use of a discount but, they didn’t seek it out. The millionaires were never splitting toilet paper or trying to cut out coupons all day.

The takeaway here is that none of them were overly frugal.

If anything, they leaned the a bit more the other way.

Your Drive is What Counts

So if the coffee didn’t matter, what did? The millionaires had incredible drive. That was a difference maker in my mind. They were competitive and wanted a better life and this drove them to push for success in business. Maybe a minimalist is driven to use less whereas the millionaires were driven to create, build, grow and achieve. That was a major goal for them.

Having a coffee or two paled in comparison to the power of their internal drive and thus, it never really affected their results.

This drive was also strong enough to take others with them.

They were always helping others, offering insight and boosting your motivation. I can remember feeling so energized after many of their training sessions. They had massive amounts of positive energy flowing to everyone around them.

This giving mentality kind of goes against the idea of scrimping and saving on coffee. If anything, they were buying a coffee and giving you one too.

They were also giving back to communities and charities.

I even got many perks working for them.

I received tips, gifts at Christmas and a few free rounds of golf on some pretty beautiful golf courses.

Final Reps

I think your drive can push you though obstacles, help you conquer tasks and get you to your goal. It can also fuel others and boost them forward with you. Your drive is really powerful and the millionaires had it in spades. It was neat to see. They had a real energy within them and they were happy to share it with the world.

So have your coffee and buy someone else one and use your drive to grow and achieve. That’s what the millionaires were doing and it seemed to work just fine for them, regardless of how many coffees they had.

Best of Wealth,
