Here are 5 steps to start a business if you’re not good at anything.

This is actually a really common occurrence and a blessing in disguise.

First, the fact that you’re asking this question means that you’re a clean slate and can learn properly.

Second, it means that you’re self-aware and understand that you’re not perfect.

These are great starting qualities for any entrepreneur.

The other far more important aspect to starting a business is wanting to start one.

The simple reality is that a lot of people don’t want to run a business.

So if you do want to start and run a business, you’re already way ahead of tons of people.

If you have the interest and the passion, you’ve got the tough part out of the way.

The rest can be learned.

Here are a few more steps that can help you along your journey.

5 Steps to help You Start a Business if You’re Not Good at Anything

  1. First, just accept it. Accept it and realize it’s a blessing.
  2. Figure out the field or industry you’re interested in.
  3. Ask the people. Find out what the customers in those industries want right now.
  4. Find the workers. Once you know what the customers want, it’s easy to find the workers.
  5. Start a mini version of your business. Don’t go big yet, just see if you can get a single sale from a basic business set up.

Step #1: Accept that You’re Not Good At Anything..Yet

Acceptance gives you strength.

It allows you to come from where you really are. People can see this and they will know that you’re being honest and as a result, they’re far more likely to give you a shot.

Once you find acceptance, you can move forward and start your business.

You also want to understand that you’re skills should focus on the business side of things.

In business, the whole point is to not use your own skills to  produce the product or service.

For example,

If you’re a high-end massage therapist, that means somebody’s going to hire you to work for them.

You’re going to make money for the business owner.

If this is your goal, go out and spend 6 years becoming a highly educated and experienced massage therapist and then, you can go work for someone.

If this doesn’t interest you, feel free to go start a massage therapy business tomorrow, hire three excellent massage therapists and start contracting them out to new customers in your area.

See how you can start the business tomorrow but it’ll take you 6 years to become an excellent massage therapist?

You’re better off not being good at anything!

This goes for online businesses too..

With the advent of the web, you can get someone to virtually make or produce any product or service for you.

This is much less of an issue in this day and age.

There are always going to be people out there with the skills that your business needs.

Think how big you could build your Massage Company in the time that 1 massage therapist gets trained.

2.Figure Out What Field or Industry You Like

Let’s say you’re passionate about the fashion industry and you’d love to start designing clothes but you have no sewing or design skills.

This is completely fine.

Unless you plan on literally sewing every single piece of clothing that you want to sell, you’re likely going to outsource a lot of your production.

Companies like Printify and Shopify can offer you products to put your labels on which can be designed on Fiverr by a designer, drop shipped from Printify through transactions done on the Shopify platform.

The entire business can literally run without you doing any of the creation, shipping or payment transactions.

But what about ideas for your fashion line?

If you’re having trouble coming up with ideas, you can literally reach out to designers on Fiverr or on the Internet and ask them what’s popular right now.

Once you find out what’s popular, you can pay for a few samples if you wish.

Before you know it, you may have samples of a new fashion brand and the start of a new business.

3. Ask The People

New entrepreneurs struggle with trying to come up with brilliant business ideas all the time.

Instead of racking your brain, just ask the people.

Go on a forum,  get in chat rooms, check on social media, ask your friends and family and start figuring out what the people want.

Even if you come up with a brilliant business idea, the danger is that nobody wants it right now.

This means your idea is going to sit idle and not take off because the timing is off.

It might still be a great idea, it’s just not a great idea right now.

What you want to do is find out what people want right now.

See how we figured out what the customers wanted first?

This is how you approach business

  • Don’t have an idea? Ask the customers.
  • Don’t know what to do? Ask the customers.
  • Not sure about anything in business? Ask the customers.

Once you know what the customers want, things get a lot easier.

There’s nothing worse than building an entire business platform and then finding out that the customer doesn’t want to buy your product right now.

This can’t have you wasting tons of time and money only to come up dry.

Instead, just ask the..well, you get it.

4. Once You’ve Got the Customers, Get the Workers

Once you know what the customer wants, it’s easy to go out and find experts and consultants to do the work for you.

Hire your super employees and before you know it, you’ll be off to the races!

Here are three websites where you can find freelancers.

Fiverr

Upwork

Flexjobs

There are unlimited numbers of people out there willing to work for you. Don’t ever think that just because you want to start a business, so does everyone else.

Most people want to work for someone else and that someone else should be you!

5. Start a Mini Business

Starting a new business can feel daunting because we assume we should take out big business loans, get all kinds of stuff set up and have this huge business platform right away before we even get our first customer.

This is a backwards approach.

What you want to do instead is just get your first sale.

Go through the process of getting your first sale.

Business is about sales, if it seems impossible to make a sale, you may need to re-evaluate your business.

This will show you what the business process is.

You’ll also find out if you like running the business.

*Obviously don’t start anything without the proper certifications, licenses and other legal necessities in place but, start with as little as you can.

Many of the millionaire clients I worked with started companies with just the basics.

They would test ideas with almost no business at all.

They didn’t put any major structures in place until they knew the need and demand was there.

The last thing you want to do is work on your website and get it perfect for 6 or more months and then find out that there’s no demand for your product or service.

Conclusion

Use these five basic steps to get a mini business going without knowing anything.

As you accept your skill set, uncover your customer’s needs and find workers, you will be developing a new skillset and a real business.

This is one of the most rare and special skillsets that anyone can possess.

Once you possess it, you’ll be ahead of many folks because the business skillset is the supreme skillset.

It’s the skillset that runs all the other skillsets.

It’s for this reason that I believe it’s the most valuable thing in the working world.

Use it effectively and you’ll have the skills you need to start and run a successful business.

Best of Wealth,

Tyler.
